Here cumin is considered beneficial for health. According to the beliefs, cumin is hot in nature, hence this month falls in the winter season, hence it is said that consumption of things with strong or hot nature disturbs the natural balance of the body. Apart from this, according to religious view, the mind should remain calm, stable and controlled in the month of Margashirsha. At the same time, cumin is considered to be a substance that stimulates the senses, due to which it is said not to use it while fasting, chanting or meditating.

It is said in the scriptures that only satvik food should be consumed. Actually, cumin is considered to be an element that increases Rajoguna. This hinders focus and concentration. Therefore, some people performing puja in this month remove cumin from the kitchen and use asafoetida or black pepper.

Time of worship of Vishnu and Lakshmi

Here the folk traditions talk about Aghaan month. Here, eating cumin in the month of Aghaan reduces the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. The reason for this is that this month of Aghan is considered the month of worship of Vishnu and Lakshmi. Therefore, people give preference to satvik and simple food in every way during this period. At the same time, according to Ayurveda, it is said that at this time Pitta dosha remains slightly increased and cumin is considered to increase both bile and heat. In such a situation, some people may experience headache, burning sensation or digestive problems after eating cumin. Therefore it was forbidden to eat it.
