LPG Price Cut From 1 December: Commercial Cylinder Becomes Cheaper Across Major Cities
Siddhi Jain | December 1, 2025 10:15 PM CST

As December begins, consumers who rely on LPG for business or daily needs have received a small but important price relief. The new LPG rates released on 1 December show that commercial LPG cylinders have become cheaper across the country, offering welcome support to restaurants, hotels and small business owners. However, the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged, continuing the stable trend seen over the past few months.

Commercial LPG Cylinders Get Marginal Price Cut

The latest changes have reduced the price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder by around ₹10 in most major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. While the reduction may appear minimal, it provides meaningful relief for businesses that use multiple cylinders each month.

Here are the revised commercial LPG prices effective from December 1:

  • Delhi: Now priced at ₹1,580.50, down from ₹1,590.50

  • Kolkata: Reduced to ₹1,684 from ₹1,694

  • Mumbai: Price drops to ₹1,531.50, earlier ₹1,542

  • Chennai: Now available at ₹1,739.50, down from ₹1,750

Consumers in all four metros received a reduction of up to ₹10, offering slight but significant savings for large-scale and small-scale commercial users.

Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices Remain Unchanged

While commercial gas users have seen a price adjustment, domestic LPG users will continue to pay the same rates as in previous months. According to Indian Oil Corporation, the cost of a 14.2 kg household LPG cylinder remains stable in all major cities.

Here are the current domestic LPG prices across key locations:

  • Delhi: ₹853

  • Mumbai: ₹852.50

  • Kolkata: ₹879

  • Chennai: ₹868.50

  • Lucknow: ₹890.50

  • Patna: ₹951

  • Kargil: ₹985.50

  • Pulwama: ₹969

  • Bageshwar: ₹890.50

The unchanged domestic prices come as a relief for households already facing rising costs of essential commodities.

Why LPG Prices Differ Across States

LPG prices in India are not uniform. The rate consumers pay depends on several factors linked to the Import Parity Price (IPP). These include:

  • Global crude oil prices

  • Shipping and freight charges

  • Dollar-rupee exchange rate

  • Local taxes and state-level levies

Since these components differ across locations, LPG cylinder prices vary from state to state.

Impact of Taxes, Transport and Subsidies

Apart from IPP, the final price of LPG is influenced by:

  • Transportation and distribution costs

    • Remote and hilly regions face higher transport expenses

    • Major cities benefit from better supply networks

  • Dealer commission and local regulations

  • Government subsidies

    • Under schemes like PM Ujjwala Yojana, eligible households receive direct subsidy transfers into their bank accounts, reducing their effective LPG cost

This means that even though the base LPG price may remain consistent nationally, the final consumer price differs depending on location and eligibility for subsidies.

Small Relief for Businesses as Year Ends

The slight reduction in commercial LPG cylinder rates offers modest relief at a time when input costs for the food, hospitality and small business sectors continue to rise. With monthly expenses tied closely to fuel usage, even a ₹10 cut per cylinder can make an impact for businesses using multiple refills each month.

For now, domestic LPG consumers will continue with stable rates, while commercial users benefit from the latest reduction. Future price adjustments will depend heavily on global crude trends, currency fluctuations and international shipping costs.
