Ranveer Singh’s highly anticipated spy thriller Dhurandhar is set to hit theaters worldwide this Friday, with advance bookings showing massive enthusiasm from fans. Early reports suggest the film is on track for a blockbuster opening.

Advance ticket sales started six days before the release, giving audiences ample time to secure seats. Initially, sales were slow, but over the past three days, collections have steadily risen. According to trade trackers, Dhurandhar has already sold over 41,900 tickets across nearly 2,900 2D shows, generating around ₹1.82 crore. Its IMAX 2D screenings contributed an additional ₹24.47 lakh from 3,731 tickets across 76 shows.

Industry analysts predict that bookings will surge in the final 48 hours before release, fueled by the film’s high-octane action and mass appeal. Current trends point to a possible ₹15 crore-plus opening day, potentially making it Ranveer Singh’s biggest post-pandemic debut. If pre-sale momentum continues, the film could even reach ₹20 crore on its first day.

Dhurandhar marks Ranveer’s return to adult-rated cinema after over a decade. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted it an A rating, recommending disclaimers and minor edits, including anti-drug/alcohol messages for relevant scenes, moderation of graphic violence, and muting of abusive language in some parts.

At 214 minutes and 1 second, Dhurandhar is also among Bollywood’s longest films in nearly 20 years, matching the runtime of the 2008 epic Jodhaa Akbar.

Earlier, The behind-the-scenes footage of upcoming Bollywood film Dhurandhar by star Ranveer Singh has set off a firestorm following reports that the filmmakers featured a Pakistani flag on the background of one scene. The brief clip, which emerged on social media, has provoked outrage among some Indian users who were upset with the filmmakers for including the flag.

The movie is directed and written by Aditya Dhar, who is most popular for the war movie Uri: The Surgical Strike. The teaser for Dhurandhar was dropped on July 6, 2025, getting all excited among fans. The teaser features Ranveer Singh in the center of attention, and glimpses of a star-studded cast are also provided.

But some Indian social media users were offended by the sight of the Pakistani flag in a leaked video and called it “shameful” and asked for an explanation as to who made such a choice in the making of the film. One user also sarcastically asked why actors such as Diljit Dosanjh, who had been publicly criticized for collaborating with Pakistani artists, had not spoken up.
