"Sir, the Aadhaar center in my village is charging 200 rupees for an Aadhaar update. The same thing happened to me. I got it updated four times, for which the Aadhaar center charged me 800 rupees, but the Aadhaar was still not updated." A user posted this complaint on social media, after which the UIDAI clarified the situation. The user did not provide their name, address, or village name, but mentioned the Aadhaar center number as 656. The user said, "Please help me." Following this, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) shared complete details about Aadhaar updates.

If you also have any confusion regarding Aadhaar updates or the fees (Aadhaar Update Charges) prescribed by the UIDAI, this information will be very useful for you.

What did the UIDAI say about Aadhaar update charges?
The UIDAI clearly stated that Aadhaar enrollment is free. However, different charges are prescribed for updating different data. However, mandatory biometric updates for children between 7 and 15 years of age have been made free until September 30, 2026.

Mandatory biometric (photo + fingerprint + iris) updates for children aged 5 to 7 years and 15 to 17 years are free. The charge for mandatory biometric (photo + fingerprint + iris) updates for children aged 7 to 15 years and above 17 years is Rs. 125. The charge for demographic updates (one or more fields) is fixed at Rs. 75, including all taxes. The charge for biometric (photo + fingerprint + iris) updates, whether with or without other demographic updates, is Rs. 125. The charge for Aadhaar search using E-KYC/Find Aadhaar/any other tool and a color printout on an A4 sheet is Rs. 40. The fee for updating your address through the myAadhaar portal is ₹75, including all taxes. The applicable fee for document updates, both at Aadhaar enrollment centers and through the myAadhaar portal, is ₹75.

The UIDAI has made the document update service on its online Aadhaar portal, 'myAadhaar', free of charge until June 14, 2026.

How to file a complaint about discrepancies in your Aadhaar?
The UIDAI has stated that for more information, people can visit the dedicated Aadhaar website (https://uidai.gov.in/). Do not pay any additional charges other than those mentioned above. If any enrollment center demands extra charges or more money, file a complaint immediately.

The UIDAI has said, "We have a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and procedural violations." It further stated that complaints can be filed on this portal (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/file-complaint).
