News of her passing began circulating on social media late Friday, after close friends posted cryptic messages and condolences online. Indonesian musician Hassan Alaydrus, a longtime friend, shared a blacked-out Instagram story shortly before the news was confirmed.
Several public figures also left messages of condolence on Lula’s final Instagram post, including actress and singer Caitlin Halderman, CNN Indonesia reported.
The news rippled through Indonesia’s entertainment scene. Popular electronic pop group Weird Genius canceled a scheduled appearance at an OPPO event on Friday night. Lula’s boyfriend, Reza Oktavian, is a member of the group.
“With heavy hearts, we inform you that Weird Genius will not be able to perform tonight due to unfortunate personal news affecting one of our members,” the group said in a statement posted on Instagram, asking for the public’s understanding.
Lula Lahfah had more than 2.7 million followers on Instagram and was widely followed for her lifestyle and personal content. Her final post, a casual video of her chatting with Oktavian, was uploaded on Wednesday and has since drawn more than one million likes as of Saturday morning.
