Big decision of Bihar government, good news for the villagers

Patna. Bihar Government has announced “Kanya Vivah Mandap Yojana” to make the marriage of daughters of poor and economically weak families in rural areas grand and respectable. Under this scheme, marriage halls equipped with modern facilities will be built in the Panchayats, where marriage ceremonies will be held on a stage decorated with flowers, artificial lights and amidst the music of Shehnai, drums and cards. Now villagers will not need to move towards big cities.

The scheme will be implemented in a phased manner in all 8053 gram panchayats of the state under the Panchayati Raj Department. Many Panchayats have received administrative approval and land has been identified for construction. The government is also allocating an advance amount of Rs 5 lakh each to these panchayats.

The responsibility of operation, maintenance, cleaning and booking of the marriage hall will be handed over to Jeevika Didis. This will not only help the scheme run smoothly but will also promote women empowerment. Construction of marriage halls in Gram Panchayats will strengthen social and cultural activities. This will strengthen community unity in Panchayats and contribute to economic development. It will also help in promoting environmental protection.

Its facility will be open to people of all castes and religions.

Free marriage halls will be provided for poor families.

Rural women will get the opportunity of employment and responsibility through Jeevika Group.

The wedding ceremonies will be conducted grandly and respectably in the pavilion equipped with modern facilities.
