Vietnam silver prices reached a new record Monday morning amid a surge in global demand for save-haven assets.
Phu Quy silver increased by 6% to VND4.24 million (US$162) per tael, or VND112.8 million per kilogram.
Prices of the white metal in Vietnam have gone up 35% since the beginning of the year.

Globally spot silver was up 4.57% at $107.65 per ounce, after hitting a record of $108.60 as investors piled into safe-haven assets amid rising geopolitical uncertainties, Reuters reported.
Silver climbed above the $100 mark for the first time on Friday, building on its 147% rise last year as retail-investor flows and momentum-driven buying compounded a prolonged spell of tightness in physical markets for the metal.
