“I am calling it off,” musician Arijit Singh said on Tuesday, January 27, announcing his retirement from playback singing. The news has come as a shock to millions of his fans. Industry peer and playback singer Chinmayi Sripada has reacted to this news and expressed that Arijit Singh has always operated from a ‘higher calling’.

Chinmayi reacts to Arijit Singh’s playback retirement In a note shared on her X (formerly Twitter) timeline, Chinamyi Sripada noted that Arijit Singh is one of her favorite musicians. She added that beyond music, he is also a ‘spiritually evolved human beings’ she has come across.

“I remember meeting Arijit when he recorded me for Pritam sir - and I remember telling him how he is not rulling Bollywood or something - Tum Hi Ho hadn’t released then. I worked with him a few times after he became the most in demand singer and nothing had changed,” Chinamayi said.

The songstress further added, “He is one of my favourite musicians, singers, and overall, one of the finest, and I daresay, spiritually evolved human beings I have come across.”

Chinmayi further added that the things he has planned for his future would be nothing short of divine. “I always felt he is someone who worked and operated from a higher calling; whatever he has planned for himself as a musician would be nothing short of divine.”

Arijit Singh’s playback retirement announcementOn Tuesday, January 27, Arijit Singh took to his social media handle and announced that he won’t be taking playback singing assignments anymore. “Hello, Happy new year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much of love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off,” he said.

“It was a wonderful journey,” the musician concluded.
