The live-action adaptation Fallout hasn't yet broadcast its latest finale, but viewers are already speculating about a potential third series.

Amazon has declared that the Prime Video programme ranks amongst its top four performing returning series, positioning it alongside hits such as Reacher and Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power as its most-viewed titles.

The new series continued from the previous season's dramatic conclusion, transporting viewers on an expedition across the Mojave wasteland to the post-apocalyptic metropolis of New Vegas.

Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins and Aaron Moten all reprised their roles as principal cast members , reports the Mirror.

This series has featured even more nods to the original games, alongside the debut of pivotal characters portrayed by prominent guest stars. Yet, with the series 2 finale scheduled for release next week (February 4), what information is available regarding a third series?

Will there be a Fallout season 3?

Viewers can savour the forthcoming second series finale, secure in the knowledge that any cliffhanger will be resolved. This is because Amazon commissioned a further instalment last year, well before series two commenced streaming.

The scripting for the upcoming season is reportedly already in full swing. Executive producer Jonathan Nolan, who also directed several episodes, anticipates filming to commence this summer.

He further expressed his aspiration for the release to happen 'as soon as possible'. The fact that production is set to begin even before the second season has fully aired suggests fans won't have a lengthy wait post conclusion.

Should the cast and crew maintain this pace, viewers could potentially look forward to Fallout season 3 as early as March 2027, considering the roughly 20-month gap between the first two seasons.

As of now, no casting updates or plot specifics for the third season have been disclosed. Fans eagerly await the direction the show might take next, following its heavily New Vegas-inspired season.
