Domestic Violence Act (Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005)
Under the Domestic Violence Act, the wife can complain against the husband. This law gives the strongest protection to women. This includes not only assault but also forced physical relations, mental torture, abuse and intimidation. Apart from this, economic control is also considered domestic violence. Under this law, the wife can ask for protection order, medical expenses, compensation and right to live separately from the court.
