Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok is under investigation for allegedly creating more than 100,000 pornographic, explicit images of children and women. In the meantime, the sensation spread around the new report. The report claims that there are still apps on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store that can generate nude images of women with the help of AI. Although both companies had previously said, they have banned any such apps from their stores. But recent reports claim the opposite.

How did the issue come up? In fact, the Tech Transparency Project, a nonprofit that monitors big tech companies, was investigating the matter. And all the apps found in that investigation! It is to be noted that this report has come out at a time when there is growing concern about the use of AI to create offensive images and videos of women and children on online platforms.

The report claims that Google Play Store and Apple App Store still have apps that can generate nude images of women with the help of AI.

According to the report, so far 55 such apps have been found in Google Play Store and 47 in Apple’s App Store. Some apps create fully nude images. The rest wear bikinis or underwear. And that said, you don’t have to look hard to find them. Just search with words like ‘nudity’, ‘undress’ and they pop up!

Many have expressed concern over how these apps have survived the so-called ‘rigorous monitoring’ of companies. Claims, the popularity of this type of app is quite popular in the stores of both Google and Apple! One of the reasons is that a clothed woman can be stripped naked with just a tap or a simple text command in all these apps. The report claims that 70 crore such images have been downloaded so far. From which the combined revenue of the apps is 117 million dollars.

Incidentally, the Modi government also served a notice to GROC for the same reason. The Center has expressed deep concern over the way obscene, offensive and sexually suggestive images and videos are being made using AI. Meanwhile, the new report increased the concern.
