According to Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA), Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG-341) from Dhaka to Karachi reached Karachi on Thursday evening. According to the statement, this is the first flight from Dhaka to land at Jinnah International Airport after 14 years. After landing at Karachi Airport, the airline flight was welcomed with the traditional water salute (Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina).

PAA further said, “A new chapter in Pakistan-Bangladesh friendship – air connectivity restored after 14 years, was celebrated with a high-level welcome ceremony at Karachi Airport.”

The development comes amid growing friendship between Bangladesh and Pakistan after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted from the post following major student-led protests in Bangladesh on August 5, 2024.

The airline is scheduled to operate between Dhaka and Karachi twice a week. Airlines were given license till March 30 to take stock of the situation before granting permission for a longer period. Bangladesh Airlines will operate the Dhaka-Karachi route on Thursday and Saturday, the airline said in a statement in Dhaka earlier this week.
