Mumbai: Dhadak 2 director Shazia Iqbal’s comments on Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar faced backlash. Shazia was forced to make her Instagram private after her candid comment on the blockbuster did not sit well with many.

Shazia took to her Instagram stories to review Dhurandhar as a ‘sinister film’. She wrote, “What a sinister film! It’s not hidden, it’s not unintentional — inciting hate and violence is in the DNA of the film. But it’s a ‘well-made’ film, guys… with some cool BGM. Well done, industry dude bros. Glad that most of y’all don’t care about minorities enough to even hide your blatant apathy.” Though she did not explicitly name the movie, netizens were quick to figure it out.

Soon after, the internet lashed out at her. Screenshots of her comments on the movie went viral online, and fans of the movie did not take it lightly. “I genuinely think she wants to be cool, but we all know what Dhurandhar is (sic),” wrote one. Another commented, “Did Shazia Iqbal watch her own project ‘Sacred Games’ for the first time? Or was it ‘Houseful 2’? (sic)”

Like Shazia, director Anurag Kashyap also spoke of the movie. He stated that he disagreed with its politics. “I liked the film, but I didn’t like some of the ideologies. The dialogue about ‘This is the new India’ and one long political monologue, among a total of three scenes, were unnecessary; even without them, the film’s impact would not have diminished,” said Anurag.

Actor Hrithik Roshan also had a different take on the movie.

He said, “I liked the film, but I didn’t like some of the ideologies. The dialogue about ‘This is the new India’ and one long political monologue, among a total of three scenes, were unnecessary; even without them, the film’s impact would not have diminished.”
