Emma Raducanu wowed supporters in Cluj-Napoca as she spoke in Romanian after easing past Greet Minnen at the Winners Open. Raducanu bounced back from her split with coach Francisco Roig by producing a dominant display to beat Minnen 6-0 6-4.

The 23-year-old's partnership with Rafael Nadal's old coach Roig ended after her early exit at the hands of Amanda Potapova in the second round of the Australian Open last month. Roig is the latest in a long line of coaches with whom Raducanu has parted ways with, but the former US Open champion put her coaching troubles behind her against the 28-year-old.

In a comprehensive showing, Raducanu sent down three aces and forced four breaks of serve across 70 minutes of action as she moved into the second round. And, following that win, Raducanu, whose father is from Bucharest, addressed an overjoyed crowd in Romanian.

"Very happy today. I think I played a great match from the beginning. I was super aggressive and the crowd from the minute I walked out was incredible," she said in her on-court interview.

"I think today was a great performance. I wanted to put my game out on the court and it's a little bit easier indoors so I'm really pleased I could kind of use that. I played a really tricky opponent in Greet, who really starts the point well, so I knew I had to do the same and pleased that I stayed with it."

Raducanu will face Kaja Juvan of Slovenia next up in the second round of the WTA 250 event on Wednesday and, in confirming her split from coach Roig last week, she said: "Thank you for our time together. You have been more than a coach to me, and I will cherish the many good times we spent together on and off the court.

"While we have come to the conclusion together that we ought not to move forward, please know that I am very grateful for all you have taught me and fond of our time shared."
