Balochistan is burning with insurgency. The people of Balochistan have been agitating for a long time to separate from Pakistan. That fight got a new level this time. Baloch rebels claimed that at least 100 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the fidayeen attack. Photos of two female suicide bombers have surfaced. One of them is 24-year-old Asifa Mengal. The identity of the second woman has not yet been released. At the moment the focus is on female Baloch suicide fighters.

However, this is not the first time that such suicidal Baloch women have been reported. The number of female suicide fighters among the Baloch minority has been on the rise, giving the Pakistani army heart palpitations. The first Baloch Fidayeen attack was in 2002. In April of that year, Shari Baloch, a postgraduate, attacked Karachi University. The mother of two blew herself up in the devastating attack. Three Chinese nationals and one Pakistani national were killed in the attack.

Why the number of Baloch women’s fidayan has increased in a row? Experts say that behind it is the tendency to inflict maximum damage and create widespread fear.

In June of that year, journalist Sumaiya Kalandrani Baloch, who was the fiancee of Rehan Baloch, the BLA’s first male suicide bomber, carried out a suicide attack targeting a Pakistani military convoy in Turba, Balochistan. Rehan was killed in a suicide attack in 2018. A week before the Zafar Express hijacking on 2 March 2025, a fidayeen woman named Banuk Mahikan Baloch blew herself up, killing one and injuring three security personnel.

But why has the number of Baloch women’s wives increased? Experts say that behind it is the tendency to inflict maximum damage and create widespread fear. Because it is difficult to identify female suicides in advance. However, according to Pakistan, there is a picture of exploitation behind it! Shahbaz government feels that they are being fooled by ‘bait’. The Baloch, however, do not hold such views. According to them, Baloch women are sacrificing their lives to liberate the motherland. Since it is easy for them to get work and women fidayans are the best recruits to create an atmosphere of fear, they are being recruited.

Incidentally, armed organization Baloch Liberation Army has been formed there to protest the unspeakable torture of Pakistan Army. To suppress these forces, the Pakistan Army has crossed the line of torture in the entire Balochistan. Rejection is coming in turn. Currently, Pakistan is in conflict with Afghanistan. Besides, another rebel organization Tehreek-e-Taliban has given sleep to the Shahbaz government. Taking advantage of this dire situation, Baloch organizations have also stepped up attacks.
