An amendment brought by Labor Party leaders Meg Hillier and Angela Rayner forced the government to release documents to the appointment. Labor MPs voted overwhelmingly in favor of declassifying confidential papers relating to Mandelson’s appointment, putting the government under intense pressure. Angry MPs have warned that Starmer could face serious challenges after the documents are revealed as a police investigation is also ongoing.

Mandelson’s resignation and revelations

Peter Mandelson resigned from the House of Lords on 3 February to save his Labor Party from further embarrassment. Documents released by the US Justice Department allege Mandelson was close to Epstein and shared sensitive government files through email chats. According to the report, the shocking revelation of sending government files for $75,000 has made this entire matter even more serious.

Out of the Royal Advisory Council

Prime Minister Starmer has confirmed that Mandelson has also been removed from the Royal Advisory Council with immediate effect, following the consent of King Charles III. The government is now preparing to introduce a new law through which Mandelson will be deprived of his prestigious ‘Lord’ The title will also be taken away forever. The leadership crisis within the Labor Party is now deepening as more shocking documents may come to light in the coming days.

Embarrassing photos and police investigation

A picture has also surfaced on social media and international media reports in which Mandelson is seen in an objectionable position in a hotel. In this picture, he is seen only in underwear and t-shirt while the woman present with him is seen standing only in a bathrobe. Such personal and professional controversies have brought Mandelson’s decades-long political career to the brink of a complete end.
