Emergency services were alerted soon after the crash. Local police teams and rescue personnel reached the scene and shifted the injured passenger to the district hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the injured individual is currently in stable condition and receiving medical care.
The identities of the deceased are yet to be formally released, as officials are in the process of informing their families. Police said further details will be shared after due verification.
Drivers Flee Scene, Investigation Underway
In a concerning development, both the bus driver and the truck driver reportedly fled the site immediately after the accident. Law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation to trace and apprehend them. Police are also examining CCTV footage from nearby toll plazas and surveillance points along the expressway to gather more information about the sequence of events leading up to the collision.
Authorities are investigating whether speeding, driver fatigue, poor visibility, or any mechanical failure contributed to the crash. A case has been registered, and forensic teams are expected to inspect the damaged vehicles as part of the inquiry.
Growing Concerns Over Highway Safety
The Yamuna Expressway, a major roadway connecting key cities in Uttar Pradesh, has witnessed several serious accidents in recent years, particularly during nighttime hours. Road safety experts have often emphasized the need for stricter monitoring of heavy vehicles and improved adherence to traffic regulations to prevent such incidents.
Police officials have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially while driving at night, and to avoid stopping vehicles on high-speed corridors without adequate safety measures. They also reiterated the importance of hazard signals and reflective markers when vehicles are halted on expressways.
