Until now, many candidates took minor details lightly while filling out the application, but the army has made it clear that no such negligence will be tolerated this time.
A very important piece of news has emerged regarding the Agnipath recruitment for 2026 for lakhs of young people who dream of serving the country. The Indian Army has changed a rule even before the recruitment process begins, and if candidates ignore it, they may suffer losses despite their hard work. This change is especially crucial for young people applying under the Tradesman category.
Until now, many candidates took minor details lightly while filling out the application, but the army has made it clear that no such negligence will be tolerated this time. According to the new rule, if a candidate does not fill in the necessary options at the time of application, their appointment may be canceled even after their name appears in the merit list. Therefore, young people preparing for Agnipath recruitment need to be more vigilant than ever.
Rule Changed for Tradesman Recruitment
According to the notice issued on the official website of the Indian Army, joinindianarmy.nic.in, candidates applying for Agnipath Tradesman posts will now have to fill in their trade preference at the time of application. 10th pass candidates can choose a maximum of 9 trades. 8th pass candidates will only be able to fill in options for 2 trades. If a candidate does not choose their trade while applying, even if their name appears in the merit list, they will not be recruited. The army has also clarified that if a candidate does not include a particular trade in their preferences and later there are no vacancies in that trade, that candidate will be out of the selection process.
Application Dates and Vacancy Details
The application process for Agnipath recruitment 2026 was initially scheduled to begin on February 3rd, but this date has now been removed from the website. The army has stated that the application process will begin soon. The special feature of this recruitment is that candidates can apply for two different posts with a single application form. The posts included in the recruitment are Agniveer GD, Agniveer Technical, Clerk/Storekeeper, Tradesman (8th and 10th pass), Soldier Pharma, Nursing Assistant, and Women Military Police.
Age Limit and Educational Qualifications
For the Agniveer recruitment 2026, candidates must be between 17.5 and 21 years of age. Educational qualifications vary depending on the post. For Agniveer GD, a 10th pass with at least 45 percent marks is required; for the Technical post, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English are mandatory in 12th grade; for Clerk/Storekeeper, 60 percent marks in 12th grade are required, along with a typing test; and for Tradesman, an 8th or 10th pass is necessary.
