In the digital age, excessive mobile and online gaming is increasingly becoming a dangerous addiction for children and young adults. Even as the discussion around the tragic incident in Ghaziabad—where three sisters jumped from the ninth floor of a society building allegedly influenced by an online Korean drama game—had not yet died down, another shocking case from Meerut has left people alarmed.

A 22-year-old youth, Mohammad Kaif, died after suffering a brain hemorrhage while playing the online game PUBG on his mobile phone. Kaif, the son of a property dealer, was a resident of Goolar Wali Gali in Khairnagar. He suddenly collapsed while gaming and was rushed to a hospital. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to Delhi, where he was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital. Despite two days of treatment, Kaif passed away on Sunday morning.

According to Kaif’s father, Mohammad Farooq, who is engaged in property dealing, Kaif often assisted him in his work. On Friday, Kaif was sitting in the office, playing PUBG on his mobile phone with earphones plugged in, when he suddenly lost consciousness and fell to the ground. People present in the office immediately informed the family and took him to a nearby doctor.

Doctors found his blood pressure to be extremely high—over 300. He was immediately admitted to Hope Nursing Home, from where he was referred to Delhi after doctors assessed his condition as critical. At Safdarjung Hospital, doctors confirmed that a sudden spike in blood pressure had caused a blood vessel in his brain to rupture, leading to internal bleeding.

Kaif was the only son in the family. His father revealed that Kaif had a history of high blood pressure and had been undergoing regular treatment for the past 10 years. It is suspected that while playing PUBG, his blood pressure surged, resulting in a fatal brain hemorrhage. Family members also said that Kaif was very active on his mobile phone.
