A Story Set in Mumbai’s Underworld

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, O’Romeo is adapted from the novel Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi. The film is set in Mumbai during the 1990s and explores the turbulent world of organized crime in the city.

At its core is the story of Hussain Ustara, a complex gangster navigating loyalty, ambition and personal conflict. The narrative blends romance with action, placing a love story against the gritty backdrop of the city’s underworld in the decades following India’s independence.

The project brings together a strong ensemble cast. Alongside Shahid Kapoor, the film features Triptii Dimri, Randeep Hooda, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal and Tamannaah Bhatia in significant roles. The film is scheduled to reach theatres on February 13.

Reunion of a Proven Creative Team

O’Romeo marks the fourth collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj. Their previous projects — Kaminey, Haider and Rangoon — received both critical and audience attention, strengthening their creative partnership over the years.

Industry observers note that this latest venture continues their tradition of layered storytelling and character-driven drama. The film’s blend of crime, romance and period detail has positioned it as one of the notable Hindi cinema releases of the month.
