Holi 2026: The festival of Holi remains incomplete without chaat. If you want to make something tangy, spicy and healthy on Holi, then Chhola Tikki Chaat will be perfect. It tastes wonderful and is also light on the stomach. Apart from this, you can also prepare many other dishes with homemade papdi. If you like eating chaat then you will definitely like this recipe. Material

for chickpeas
Chickpea-1 cup (soaked overnight)
Tea leaves-1 tsp (in bundle)
Salt – as per taste
Turmeric-1/2 tsp
Chaat masala-1 tsp

for tikki

Boiled potatoes- 3
Cornflour-2 tbsp
Ginger-green chilli paste-1 tsp
Salt and red chilli – as per taste

for topping

whipped curd
sweet tamarind chutney
green chutney
finely chopped onion
Tomato
coriander leaves

Pomegranate seeds (optional)

Method

  1. Boil soaked gram in a cooker with salt, turmeric and a bundle of tea leaves. When it becomes soft, remove the tea leaves and add chaat masala on top.
  2. Mash boiled potatoes. Add salt, chilli, ginger-green chilli paste and cornflour to it. Make small tikkis and fry them on the pan till they become light golden.
  3. Mix some salt and 1 tablespoon oil in a cup of flour. Knead the dough hard, roll it into a thin puri and pierce it with a fork. Cut it into small round shapes and fry them crisply on low flame.

How to decorate chaat

Place tikki in the plate first. Add chickpeas on top. Add curd, green chutney and tamarind chutney. Garnish with onion, tomato, sev and coriander. Finally add chaat masala and pomegranate seeds.

tips

  1. For a healthy option, shallow fry or air fry the tikkis.
  2. Papdi can be used for 10-15 days by keeping it in an airtight container.
  3. You can also make Papdi Chaat, Dahi Papdi or Bhel from the remaining Papdi.
