Bhubaneswar: The city-based Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) celebrated Holi festival with great enthusiasm and devotion. During the celebration, a minute’s silence was observed to pay tribute to late Odia lyricist Abhijit Majumdar and vocalist Geeta Patnaik.
Dressed as Radha and Krishna, the students of KISS filled the campus with colours, music and joy. Prominent Odia film stars, artists, writers and more than 60 eminent personalities joined them in the celebration.
Besides, players and officials from 52 countries, present for the upcoming World Beach Volleyball Championship, along with representatives from Doshisha University, Japan, also shared the festive spirit.
It is to be noted here that the authorities of KISS organize such special Holi celebration every year with the aim to motivate and encourage the students, making the festival of colours truly meaningful for them.
Speaking about the celebration, KIIT and KISS founder Achyuta Samanta said, “Every year, before Holi, our 40,000 KISS children celebrate together on the campus with so much excitement. For many of them, this is a day they truly wait for. The colours, the songs, the laughter — everything fills the campus with life.”
“This year too, some well-known faces from Odia cinema came to be with the children. They danced, they smiled, and they spent time with them like family. Most of these children come from very simple backgrounds. When I watch them celebrate freely and happily, I feel content. Their happiness is my happiness,” he added.
