Peace lilies are beautiful indoor plants, but they can be annoying when the white flowers fall off as soon as you get the houseplant home. This can be due to a number of reasons, and sometimes, the plant may not flower again at all.

To help keep the houseplant thriving for longer, feeding it regularly throughout the growing season is key. There are a number of methods to choose from, but many gardeners opt for organic gardening methods. This includes leftover coffee grounds.

Taking to the Gardening Tips and Tricks Facebook page, Alice Wallis wrote: "Just wanted to tell everyone about how I'm feeding my peace lilies every year for repeat blooms.

"I use my coffee machine every day, and instead of binning the capsules, I open them up to get the leftover grounds.

"They take a few days to dry, but I'll then sprinkle this around the base of the houseplant. Seems to be working well after my friend recommended it."

Alice posted a photo of her gorgeous, blooming peace lily, pictured with glossy green leaves and white flowers.

Coffee grounds contain many minerals and nutrients such as potassium, magnesium and calcium. These are all essential plant nutrients that can help them grow.

As well as sprinkling the leftover grounds on the soil, coffee grounds can also be dissolved in water for an extra boost when hydrating.

Coffee grounds can also be added the the soil of a peace lily, ideal for when owners are moving their houseplant to a bigger pot.

While they work wonders for some indoor and outdoor plants, others, such as lavender, rosemary and succulents, can suffer from the acidity.

Other natural fertilisers include banana peel, which works in the same way, providing peace lilies with nutrients they need to thrive.

Make sure to feed them only during the growing season and don't overdo it, as this could inhibit growth.
