Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has announced in the 2026-27 state budget that all new laws will be prepared in Kannada. In addition, all central government laws enacted so far will be translated into Kannada.
To improve the judicial system, the budget has allocated Rs 175 crore for constructing court buildings and residential facilities for judges. Key initiatives include:

Establishing ‘e-courts’ in Bengaluru, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, and Mysuru at a cost of Rs 10 crore to create paperless, efficient, and citizen-focused justice.

Construction of a district court complex in Ramanagara, Bengaluru South.

Upgrading infrastructure worth Rs 5 crore for the Advocate General’s office library, video conferencing facilities, and CCMS and e-filing systems in Bengaluru, Dharwad, and Kalaburagi courts.

Training judges and lawyers interested in mediation to reduce case backlogs through alternative dispute resolution.
