On Monday afternoon, BBC viewers tuned in to watch host Christina Trevanion welcome four people who were all hoping to earn a profit at auction in Bargain Hunt.

The episode, which was filmed in Staffordshire, saw husband and wife duo Irfan and Agnes on the red team, while colleagues Lorraine and Hannah were on the blue team.

Each team were given an expert to help them scour items at Bingley Hall to bring to auction, as Izzie Balmer was assigned to the red team and Bargain Hunt's Nick Hall assigned to the blues.

During the show, the red team's items were first to go under the gavel as they got brought a paperweight, brooch and spoon, which had given them a profit of £37.

However, there was still one more item to go for auction, Izzie's mystery bonus buy. When revealing what she had got, she explained: "So I picked this for you because I know you said that you like visual things and detail.

"This is Arts and Crafts 1907, it's Gourdel Vales and Co, so it's ticking all the boxes as far as collectors are concerned.

However, there is a flaw. The enamel is chipped in the centre, it's not horrendous, but it is there."

Revealing she had spent £38 on it, Irfan signed to Izzie that he thinks the item was worth it as their interpreter Mike shared that Irfan had said: "We're only going to be here once in our lives, let's do it. You only live once, I think we should say yes!"

Before it went under the gavel, auctioneer James Lewis was thrilled by the pendant, confessing he believed it would do well.

He said: "It's got a bit of fading to the enamel at the top, it's strange really it's lost a bit of colour but the overall style is great."

Putting an estimate of between £80 to £120 on the pendant, he was stunned to learn Izzie had only paid £38, commenting: "She's done really well."

In the end, the pendant sold for a staggering £120, giving them a profit of £82, making them the overall winners of the day, having made £119 compared to the blue team's loss of £70.

However, people watching were blown away by the pendant's selling price as one person said: "Wow...I don't see the appeal of that brooch #BargainHunt."

Someone else added: "Well, I never. Didn't think that Broach would do that.#bargainhunt." Another viewer wrote: "The brooch made more than the spoon.... strange #bargainhunt"

Whilst one person commented: "Good grief, can't believe it! #bargainhunt" As someone else shared: "And they always say, never buy chipped enamel #bargainhunt"

Bargain Hunt is available to watch weekdays on BBC One from 12:15pm
