Plans have been submitted for a brand new Aldi store as the German supermarket chain continues its expansion across the country. Aldi recently revealed plans to open 40 new stores across the country in 2026 as part of a £370million investment across the UK, with several confirmed locations announced by the budget supermarket. Aldi is a favourite among Brits, as it is consistently named the cheapest supermarket in Britain, with more than 1,000 UK stores already in operation.

It has put together a £1.6billion two-year investment strategy, which was unveiled last year. Aldi aims to have 1,500 stores across the UK and wants to open stores in areas without an Aldi store.

"Our unwavering commitment is to make high-quality, affordable groceries accessible to everybody," Giles Hurley, chief executive officer at Aldi UK and Ireland, previously said. An exciting update is that Aldi has submitted plans for a new store in Gloucester.

Plans are being lodged for a new Aldi food store at Innsworth Park District Centre, which is a new residential development in Gloucestershire. It would create a reported 40 full-time and part-time jobs. The plans include 118 customer parking spaces along with six EV spaces.

Michael Plimmer, senior development manager at Robert Hitchins, said: "Innsworth Park is a significant mixed-use development for Gloucester, providing new homes, employment space and community facilities.

"The delivery of a food store is an important part of the approved district centre and represents the first phase of this element of the scheme.

"Working in partnership with Aldi will help bring forward this key component of the masterplan, providing convenient access to affordable food shopping for local residents while supporting the continued delivery of Innsworth Park."

The confirmed locations for new Aldi stores in 2026 are:
