New Delhi: In many parts of the country, the month of March has started feeling the heat like May-June. The scorching afternoon sun is making one sweat in the plains of North India including Delhi-NCR. However, there is also news of relief for the people suffering from the weather. According to the latest bulletin of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather patterns are going to change in many states including Delhi, UP and Punjab within the next three days, which will put a brake on the rising mercury. Chances of rain in Delhi-UP and Punjab, the temperature will fall. Today (Thursday), the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature can go up to 18 degrees. But it is a matter of relief that between March 14 and 16, there will be cloud cover in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, these states may experience light rain with thunder and strong winds at a speed of 30-50 km/hour, due to which the temperature will drop by 2 to 4 degrees. Alert of snowfall in the mountains and heavy rain in the Northeast. On one hand, rain is awaited in the plains, while in the higher areas of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, snowfall and rain are again expected between March 12 to 17. The round is about to start. There is also a possibility of hailstorm at some places in Himachal Pradesh. Talking about North-East India, a warning of heavy rain has been issued in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Especially during March 13 to 15, there may be torrential rains along with thunderstorms in some parts of Meghalaya and Assam. ‘Orange Alert’ in Gujarat: Heat records broken in March itself. The situation in Western India is a bit worrying. There is an outbreak of severe heat wave in many districts of Gujarat. ‘Orange alert’ has been issued in Surendranagar and Rajkot. The temperature in Diu on Tuesday was recorded at 41.3 degrees Celsius, which is the highest temperature so far in the history of March. In Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar also the mercury has crossed 40 degrees. The temperature in Barmer, Rajasthan is also close to 40.6 degrees, although there is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain due to the new Western Disturbance from March 14. Weather patterns will change in Central and Eastern India as well. The effect of heat is not limited to the North-West only. The weather will also change in the coming days in Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Light to moderate rain and strong winds are expected in these areas, due to which people can get relief from the humid heat for some time.
