Delhi: : Just a few days after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, BCCI has released the schedule for the first phase of the 19th season of the Indian Premier League, world cricket’s most high-profile T20 league. The program of this edition starting from 28th March has been released till 12th April.

Danger looms over the first match of RCB vs SRH

On the evening of Wednesday, March 11, the Board has released the schedule of the first 20 matches of IPL 2026, but with the release of the schedule, a new problem has arisen, due to which the first match to be held between defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad is in danger.

The picture is not yet clear on the matches to be held at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The first match of the 19th season of IPL will be between RCB and SRH at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, but BCCI has left a big suspense regarding this match. The board has added a special point by noting it with the schedule and that very point is now raising questions in everyone’s mind.

The decision will be taken only after the approval of the expert committee

The release issued for the schedule of the first phase of this season of the Indian Premier League reads, “The matches to be played in Bengaluru are subject to the approval of the Expert Committee constituted through the Government of Karnataka. The Committee will inspect and meet the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 13, 2026, during which a full-scale mock demonstration of the match-day arrangements will be conducted to assess the preparedness of the stadium to host IPL matches.”

There is a clear indication from the board that an expert committee has been formed regarding the matches to be held at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and only after the decision coming from their side, the matches will be held in Bengaluru. Let us tell you that 5 out of 7 matches of RCB are to be held in Bengaluru and 2 matches are to be held in Guwahati.
