The former Indian wk-batter Vijay Dahiya has been appointed as the Gujarat Titans assistant head coach ahead of the IPL 2026 season.

The appointment comes on March 11 to further strengthen the franchise’s coaching setup. The appointment could play an important role in shaping the GT 2026 squad as the Gujarat Titans prepare for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Vijay Dahiya represented the country in 19 ODIs and 2 tests, enjoying his domestic career as coach guiding Delhi to Ranji Trophy title in 2007-08 season and has since built an impressive coach resume across domestic cricket and the IPL.

Since then, Dahiya has built a strong coaching portfolio across domestic and IPL teams. His appointment follows the recent addition of former Australian batter Matthew Hayden as batting coach.

Since their inception in 2022, the Gujarat Titans have emerged as one of the most consistent teams in the IPL, reaching the playoffs in three of their first four seasons and winning the title in their inaugural campaign.

With a strengthened coaching structure in place, the former champions will look to build, aiming for a title during the IPL 2026 tournament.

Previously, Vijay Dahiya was appointed as the head talent scout of the Delhi Capitals in 2019, and he also moved to the Lucknow Super Giants as assistant coach.

Earlier, the BCCI announced the first phase of the IPL 2026 schedule, which is set to be played between March 28 and April 12, 2026.

This is because three states in India are scheduled for local selections, and the full schedule of the tournament will be announced once the poll dates are announced.

As preparations for the next season gather pace, the franchise is expected to finalize its training schedule and squad combinations soon. Fans are eager to see how Gujarat Titans shape their plans for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

The 19th edition of the Indian Premier League will begin with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosting Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28 in M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
