LPG KYC: The government has issued an important notice for millions of domestic LPG (cooking gas) customers across the country. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has urged all domestic gas consumers to complete their e-KYC (electronic KYC) as soon as possible. According to the government, e-KYC is performed through Aadhaar biometric verification. Its purpose is to ensure that gas connections are being used by genuine consumers. The primary objective is to prevent fraud or misuse.
Why is this advisory issued now?
Recently, there have been growing concerns about the availability of LPG cylinders in some areas. Escalating tensions in the Middle East have impacted global energy supplies. Therefore, the government wants to ensure that the gas distribution process remains transparent and smooth.
Why is e-KYC necessary?
The government believes that completing e-KYC will reduce fraud in gas distribution, make the system more efficient, and ensure consumers have no problems accessing gas.
How to complete e-KYC?
The Ministry of Petroleum has stated that e-KYC is completely free and very easy. You can complete it from your mobile phone in just a few minutes from home. It can verify consumer identity, enter correct information related to the gas connection, and prevent incorrect or fraudulent connections. To complete e-KYC, download your gas company's mobile app. Open the app and log in, then select the e-KYC option. To complete e-KYC, you must download the Aadhaar FaceRD app. This app uses your facial biometric verification. Your identity will be verified, and e-KYC will be completed.
