Ingredients of Papaya Pickle

  • Raw papaya – 500 grams
  • Mustard oil – 2 teaspoons
  • Mustard – 1 teaspoon
  • Fennel – 1 teaspoon
  • Fenugreek seeds – half teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric – half teaspoon
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Vinegar or lemon juice – 1 teaspoon

Method of preparation

First of all, wash the raw papaya thoroughly, remove its peel and cut it into small pieces or thin long slices. After this, dry these pieces for some time in the sun or in the open air so that excess moisture is removed.

Heat mustard oil in a pan, add mustard, fennel and fenugreek seeds and fry lightly. When the aroma of spices appears, turn off the gas and let the oil cool.

Put the chopped papaya in a big vessel and add turmeric, red chilli powder, salt and prepared masala oil and mix well. At the end, add a little vinegar or lemon juice, so that the pickle remains safe and tasty for a long time.
