Retirement of the captain who made Pakistan champion, ICC had once banned him due to bad language.

Pakistan cricket team has been waiting for a title for a long time. For the last 9 years, Pakistani team has not been able to win a single ICC title. His last success was in 2017, when Pakistan won the Champions Trophy title. While the Pakistani team has been waiting for the trophy since then, the captain who won them this title has now announced his retirement. Former Pakistan captain and wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed announced his retirement from international cricket. Sarfaraz had captained Pakistan in more than 100 matches.

38-year-old Sarfaraz announced his retirement from international cricket on Sunday 15 March. His last match for Pakistan came in December 2023, when he was part of the Test team on the Australia tour. Since then he was out of the Pakistani team. However, for the last few months he was playing the role of a mentor in Pakistan cricket. Just a few months ago, he was present as a mentor for the Pakistan Shaheen team in the Asia Cup Rising Stars and recently in the Under-19 World Cup.

It was under the captaincy of Sarfaraz that Pakistan won its last trophy. In 2017, Pakistan won the Champions Trophy title by defeating India in the final under the captaincy of Sarfaraz. But not only the Champions Trophy, but before that he had also made Pakistan win the Under-19 World Cup. He made Pakistan Under-19 champion in 2006 and even then they defeated India in the final. Pakistan has not won the Under-19 World Cup since then.
