Thiago Silva has shared the tragic sudden death of his mother, Angela Maria da Silva, at the age of 70, as tributes flood in for the former Chelsea defender. The Blues are amongst those who have expressed their sympathies to the Brazilian, who is now 41 and playing for Porto.
Silva shared a photograph of himself with his mother on Instagram, where he broke the news. He wrote: "My little mom, I can't believe it. Unbelievable. How is that possible? I'm going to miss you so much."
Silva will return to Rio de Janeiro for his mother's funeral, meaning he will be absent from his side's fixture against Moreirense.

Silva previously featured for the Blues, playing a pivotal role in their Champions League triumph whilst continuing to produce accomplished displays at the back despite his advancing years. Chelsea have also sent their condolences.
The Premier League outfit stated: "Everyone at Chelsea FC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Angela Maria da Silva, beloved mother of Thiago Silva.
"Our thoughts are with Thiago, and all of Angela's family and friends at this difficult time."
Silva had a four-year stint at Stamford Bridge, making 155 appearances for the West London club. In addition to their European victory, he also contributed to the team's UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup wins.
He initially left Chelsea to return to his home country, Brazil, joining Fluminense.
However, in December, he made a comeback to Europe, signing with Porto as he aimed to secure a spot in this summer's World Cup.
Silva's family has been going through a difficult time, grappling with the loss of two beloved family members.
Belle Silva, the defender's wife, tragically lost her father less than a week ago.
