New Delhi: Popular Telugu‑film actress Shamna Kasim, better known as Poorna, has welcomed her second child, a baby girl named Dua Jameela.

Shamna shared an adorable first picture of her newborn on Instagram, holding the baby while her husband, Shanid Asif Ali, looks lovingly at their daughter. Their first child, son Hamdan Asif Ali, who they fondly call “Hamdu,” also appears in the picture, completing the family moment. In her Instagram post, Shamna wrote that this morning at 4:25 am, close to the time of Fajr prayer, “Allah has blessed my life with another precious gift.” She added that immediately after the baby’s birth, the Adhan (call to prayer) and Iqamah were recited in their daughter’s ears, a traditional gesture of blessing. Replying to the flood of congratulations, she commented, “Thank u each one for all the prayers and wishes,” with heart and hug emojis.

Shamna announced that the couple have named their daughter “Dua Jameela,” explaining the meaning in a later note. She wrote, “We have named our beloved daughter ‘Dua Jameela.’ May Allah grant her a long life, good health, and strong Iman, and make her grow into a righteous and noble person. May she be a great blessing for our entire family.” These words show how much the family hopes she will remain pious and bring happiness to those around her.

 Husband’s message of gratitude

Shanid also took to Instagram to welcome the baby girl, calling her “a precious gift from Allah and a loving little sister for our Hamdu mon.” He thanked God for a safe and smooth delivery without any complications and prayed that Allah bless their baby and their family. He also expressed special thanks to Dr Safa Fathima, the nurses, and the team at Aster Hospital for their care and support, as well as to all their loved ones who kept them in their prayers.

Shamna Kasim, known in films as Poorna, married Dubai‑based businessman Shanid Asif Ali in October 2022 after a quiet engagement earlier that year. Their firstborn, son Hamdan, was born in April 2023.
