Jaydee Canvot sparked the anger of Leeds United fans on social media after Gabriel Gudmundsson was sent off during the Whites' 0-0 draw away at Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon. Referee Thomas Bramall appeared to have forgotten he had already cautioned Gudmundsson when he displayed a second yellow without producing a red. The defender had previously gone into the official's notebook 27 minutes into the fixture before he received a second yellow for a tardy challenge on Ismaila Sarr.

Rather than immediately showing Gudmundsson a red, it seems Bramall had overlooked that the 26-year-old had already been warned. As he walked away from the incident, Bramall was then confronted by Sarr, and several other Palace players, who reminded him that two yellows equal a red. After approximately 30 seconds or so, and as Gudmundsson was walking to return to his position, Bramall finally produced the red card, as the Leeds player raised his hands in protest. And after the dismissal, Palace defender Canvot was seen celebrating wildly behind the Leeds defender, punching the air with both fists multiple times.

Speaking on Sky Sports' commentary for the match, Chris Sutton and Gary Weaver could scarcely believe what they were witnessing. Weaver said: "Gudmundsson's on a yellow as well, isn't he?" before Sutton replied: "Gudmundsson is on a yellow, and another yellow has just been shown his way."

Sutton then added: "Well, Gabriel Gudmundsson was already on a yellow card. I think he's checking for the fourth-official on the far side, Paul Tierney."

"Gudmundsson is now shoved away by [Lukas] Nmecha. Palace are saying, 'Hasn't he already been booked?' And now the referee does show the red card."

But Palace ultimately failed to make their one-man advantage count as the game ended 0-0. With Leeds down to 10, top goalscorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin fired a penalty wide before half-time.

There were boos at the full-time whistle from the home crowd as they reacted to another frustrating result. The point means Leeds are three points clear of the relegation zone with eight games to go.

Palace are one place above the Whites but have seven more points in 14th. But gap to the European spots is growing due to their inconsistent run of form.
