A football coach who claimed to have played a part in Max Dowman's development at Arsenal has issued an apology to the teenager's family. The 16-year-old's father, Robert, lashed out at football coach TemisanWilliams after the latter gave an interview to talkSPORT.

Williams, who was introduced as Dowman's 'former coach', spoke about the teenager's rapid ascent through the Gunners academy ranks. This was not received well by the teenage sensation's father, who uploaded a furious post on social media in response.

At the time of writing, Robert's X post has received over 763,200 views, despite the fact he has just over 9,000 followers on the social media platform. After Dowman's father's vicious post, Williams sent an apology of his own on social media.

He wrote: "Following Rob Dowman’s comments today: I have spoken with Rob Dowman and apologised to him and his family. Going forward, I will not be discussing Max Dowman’s development. I wish Rob Dowman and his family nothing but continued success."

When Williams spoke to Ally McCoist and Gabriel Agbonlahor on the sports radio platform, he said: "It's an incredible thing that Max has done, it's brilliant for his family, the academy, the club, and the fans. He should just enjoy the moment, which I know he did.

"I should start by saying, scouts have done a fantastic job. I was the Under-12s assistant coach. I was also able to see Max for two years, so a small part of his journey, but Max has always had that super strength of being able to carry the ball. That's always been something he's enjoyed, something he's strong at and something we saw in training."

In response, Dowman posted: "Listening to this guy Temisan Williams claiming he was any part of Max's journey is a really sad piece of attempted self-promotion. I have asked him previously to refrain from doing so, but still he pops up on talkSport this morning.

"I remember him putting the cones out at training a few times, but that's about it. We have so many fabulous coaches who we are so grateful to. He is certainly not one of them..."

Dowman was the talk of the Premier League last weekend. He made one of the most memorable Arsenal contributions of the season when he scored a last-minute breakaway goal to secure a huge 2-0 home victory against Everton for the Gunners.

At the time, Arteta's side were leading 1-0 through Viktor Gyokeres' strike in the 89th minute. Arsenal had to withstand tense pressure from the Toffees until Dowman made use of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford being sent up for a late corner for the Merseysiders by going down the other end with the ball, beating two Everton players and then passing into an empty net.

His goal ensured Arsenal ended the weekend nine points clear of second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand over the north Londoners.
