Delhi: Only 4 days are left for the 19th season of IPL to start. Before the start of the season, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team has taken an important decision. KKR has Rinku Singh (Rinku Singh) has been appointed as his vice-captain. Rinku will be the deputy of veteran Ajinkya Rahane in IPL 2026.
Let us tell you that KKR had made Venkatesh Iyer the vice-captain in the last season, who is no longer a part of this team. His performance in IPL 2025 was quite shameful, due to which the franchise released him before the mini auction.
With Iyer’s exit, Rinku has got a chance to join the leadership group of KKR.

Today, during the ‘Knights Unplugged 3.0’ event held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, team CEO Venky Mysore officially announced the appointment of Rinku as the vice-captain. The left-handed batsman has been a part of this team for the last 8 years. Rinku is now counted among the most important players of the team.
Venky announced the appointment of Rinku as vice-captain in a very unique manner. He said from the stage,
KKR had retained Rinku for Rs 13 crores.
KKR had retained Rinku for a huge amount of Rs 13 crore before the mini auction for IPL 2026. Rinku has played 59 matches so far in his IPL career, in which he has scored 1099 runs at an average of 30.53. During this period his strike rate has been above 145.
