Devotees of Harry Potter confess they are 'dancing in their room' following the arrival of the first 'incredible' trailer for the forthcoming HBO series.
It has been known for quite some time that a fresh adaptation based on the collection of books penned by J.K. Rowling has been in development.
The majority have greeted the announcement with measured enthusiasm. Some have expressed uncertainty whether another version is necessary following the highly praised film franchise.
This latest interpretation is set to be a faithful adaptation of the beloved novels, with the author listed as an executive producer.
Each instalment of Harry Potter will be presented to both newcomers and devoted followers, streaming exclusively on HBO Max which at last debuts in the UK this month.
The original beloved films will remain available for viewing worldwide. While supporters should be able to access the new series on HBO's dedicated service, Sky and NOW subscribers should also gain entry provided they hold the appropriate subscription.
It's been previously indicated that the studio is hopeful about the series proving as triumphant and acclaimed as the films, with aspirations of it continuing for at least 10 years. The series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, recognised for her contributions to Killing Eve and His Dark Materials.
Several episodes will be helmed by Mark Mylod, celebrated for directing numerous episodes of the HBO smash series Succession. It was confirmed last year that rising stars Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will step into the iconic roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, respectively.
We now have our first look at their highly anticipated portrayals, reports the Mirror.
This also extends to fresh interpretations of other cherished characters, including Hagrid portrayed by Nick Frost and Professor Dumbledore, with Hollywood heavyweight John Lithgow assuming the mantle of the iconic role.
Fans now also know when they can expect the series to arrive, and it is considerably sooner than many anticipated. The caption accompanying the video shared on YouTube reads: "A new era of Hogwarts begins. The HBO Original series Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone premieres this Christmas."
Predictably, fans were swift to voice their thoughts and reactions to the first footage released from the series, with many genuinely surprised by how much they appreciated it.
One viewer commented: "This actually looks incredible! I love that they're going to show more of Harry's life with the Dursleys!" Another echoed the sentiment: "THIS LOOKS INCREDIBLE!!! God Bless HBO!! THIS CHRISTMAS."
Someone else admitted: "I'm dancing in my room right now." While another observed: "I actually love the take on Harry trying to be a muggle student at a school."
Taken aback by how swiftly the premiere appears to be approaching, one fan exclaimed: "Also, Christmas??? YESSS!!! I thought we'd have another year!!" Many others acknowledged that the series would give them the opportunity to delve deeper into the events of the book and reflect more thoroughly on its characters.
Some devoted fans even confessed to feeling emotional, and even tearful, at the prospect of the series allowing them to revisit their childhoods. One person commented: "I shed a tear...my childhood is coming back to me again."
One person posted: "I'm sobbing this is incredible" and another "I'm literally crying."
Harry Potter is streaming on HBO Max this Christmas.
