Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate new international airport in Noida

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first phase of the Noida International Airport on Saturday. It is the second international airport to service the Indian capital of New Delhi.
Located in Jewar the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, the airport is expected to see 12 million passengers a year in the initial phase and up to 70 million once fully operational.
According to authorities, about $1.2 billion (€1.04 billion) was invested in the first phase of the airport project that spans across 7,200 acres.
India on Wednesday announced plans to develop 100 new airports in the next 10 years with aims to increase the number of airports to 350–400 by 2047, up from 163 in 2025.
The government also plans to spend $1.07 billion in subsidies for airlines to operate unviable routes.
