Police officers have taken strict action in case of breach in the security of Delhi Assembly. Two policemen have been suspended after initial investigation revealed negligence.

Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava, appearing for Delhi Police, argued that an in-depth investigation is necessary in this matter. He said that any major conspiracy or possible terrorist angle behind the security breach also has to be investigated. The police have not yet recovered the mobile phone of the accused.

Meanwhile, a Delhi court has sent accused Sarabjit Singh to police custody. The police presented him before Judicial Magistrate Karthik Taparia. A remand of 10 days was sought.

The defense opposed police custody and claimed that the accused was mentally unstable. He has been undergoing treatment for a long time. According to him, Sarabjit Singh had gone to Chandigarh a few days ago without informing and when he got information about his nephew’s disappearance, he returned to Delhi.

The lawyer also said that he entered the assembly premises by mistake because he thought it was a Gurudwara. However, the court raised questions on this argument. The judge asked that if the accused is mentally ill, then how can he drive for 700 kilometers. If his condition was like this, then why was he allowed to drive.

The government lawyer said that the accused has been charged with attempt to murder because he had tried to run over the vehicle twice after being stopped by the security personnel on duty. This posed a serious threat to his life. Investigation has also revealed that the accused had hired two drivers. This indicates a pre-planned conspiracy in his action. The 37-year-old accused is said to be a supporter of the farmers’ movement.
