Srinagar: Political parties across the spectrum have urged authorities to release jailed Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid as his ailing father Khazir Muhammad Sheikh is on ventilator support at a hospital in Srinagar.
NC Lok Sabha MP from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah, said courts have the power to act as Rashid's father is in hospital. State health minister Sakeena Itoo visited SMHS hospital to inquire about his health along with another MLA Salman Sagar.
PDP MLA Waheed Para said no father must die in the pain of seeing his children suffer for political reasons. Awami Ittehad Party of Engineer Rashid has also moved an application for his interim bail. NIA arrested Rashid in 2019 under UAPA charges and while in jail he fought and won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Baramulla.
