New Delhi: The electric shift is now touching one of the most familiar luxury sedans in the world. Mercedes-Benz C-Class Electric has officially been revealed, and this marks a big change for the C-Class badge that many buyers know well.
For years, the C-Class has been about petrol and diesel performance. Now, it is stepping into a fully electric future. The first launch will happen in the United States, with other markets, including India, still waiting for confirmation.
Electric C-Class brings long range and fast chargingThe new model is built on a dedicated EV platform and uses a 94kWh battery. Mercedes claims a WLTP range of up to 762 km, which is quite strong for this segment.
Charging is another highlight. With fast charging support, the car can add around 325 km range in just 10 minutes under ideal conditions.
Performance and techThe electric C-Class also brings strong performance numbers:
- Power output of 360 kW
- 0 to 100 kmph in around 4.0 seconds
- Rear axle steering for better turning
- Air suspension with adaptive damping
There is also a two-speed transmission on the rear axle, which helps balance acceleration and efficiency.
Design and featuresThe design has changed to suit EV styling. It now gets a coupe-like roofline and a smoother shape to improve airflow. The drag coefficient starts at 0.22, which helps with efficiency.
Inside and around the car, practicality is still there:
- Boot space of 470 litres
- Additional front storage of 101 litres
- Towing capacity up to 1.8 tonnes
Lighting also gets a fresh look with star-shaped elements at the front and rear.
What this means for IndiaRight now, there is no official word on an India launch. But given how fast the EV market is growing here, it may only be a matter of time.
