The speculations regarding the post of Chief Minister that have been going on for a long time in Karnataka politics have now come to an end. Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has made it clear that the Chief Minister will not be changed in the state and the existing leadership will continue to work.

New Delhi: Mallikarjun Kharge has clarified the situation on the ongoing speculations regarding the post of Chief Minister of Karnataka and said that at present there will be no change in the state and the current Chief Minister will continue his tenure. There were discussions going on in Karnataka for a long time regarding the post of Chief Minister, especially regarding the alleged tussle between Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.

In this context, different claims and reactions of supporters were coming out within the party. Kharge indicated that the Congress leadership will resolve this entire matter soon and no instability will be allowed in the party.

Controversy regarding the post of Chief Minister was going on for a long time

There was political turmoil in Karnataka for the last several months regarding the post of Chief Minister. There have been reports of alleged tussle over leadership between the supporters of the current Chief Minister of the state Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. However, both the leaders have repeatedly said publicly that there are no differences in the party and all decisions will be taken as per the instructions of the Congress High Command.

Kharge’s clear message: No change right now

While talking to the media, Mallikarjun Kharge clearly said that at present there is no proposal to change the Chief Minister. He said that whoever is leading the government will continue to fulfill his responsibilities. He also said that whatever discussion will be held on this issue within the party, it will be decided by the High Command at the appropriate time.

Kharge also clarified that if any kind of leadership change is considered in future, the final decision will be taken by senior party leader Sonia Gandhi. He said that such decisions are not taken only on political circumstances, but keeping in mind organizational ideas and experience.

Role of Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah

Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar have been at the center of discussion regarding the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka Congress. Supporters of DK Shivakumar had also recently suggested that May 15 is his birthday and he could be “gifted” in the form of a change of leadership. However, this statement appeared only as an opinion of political supporters. On the other hand, DK Shivakumar while talking to the media said that there is no discord within the party and all decisions will be taken as per the instructions of the organization.

DK Shivakumar’s statement: “No internal dispute”

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar clarified that there is no difference of opinion within the party. He said that when the right time comes, all the decisions will be made public. He also said that Congress is united and the government is working stably. Amidst all this political development, a statement to the Home Minister of Karnataka also increased the discussion. Although the party leadership did not comment much on this, it was indicated that the final decision on all sensitive issues would be taken by the High Command only.
