Despite having given birth to two sons in the last few years, only one of Princess Eugenie's three children will join a unique group of very special babies in the Royal Family. Currently, the only member of the club is Princess Beatrice's youngest daughter, Athena.

The oldest daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson announced on Monday (May 4) that she and her husband, Jack Brooksbaank, are set to welcome their third child later this year. The 36-year-old took to Instagram, where she uploaded a snap of their two sons, August, five, and Ernest, two, looking at an ultrasound picture, which was joined by the caption: "Baby Brooksbank due 2026!"

Eugenie and Jack's future addition will arrive less than two years after her older sister, Princess Beatrice, 37, welcomed her second daughter with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Upon her birth in January 2025, baby Athena became the first Royal Family member to be part of Generation Beta - a name given to babies born between 2025 and 2039, who could prove the first to live into the 22nd century.

Beatrice and Eduardo's eldest child, Sienna, four, born in September 2021, was born too early to join this group. However, along with her cousins, August and Ernest, born in February 2021 and May 2023, respectively.

Athena, however, will be joined by Eugenie's incoming arrival, who is due in the summer of 2026.

According to demographer and consultant Mark McCrindle, Generation Beta babies will "grow up in a world shaped by breakthroughs in technology, evolving social norms, and an increasing focus on sustainability and global citizenship".

"Generation Beta will also inherit a world grappling with major societal challenges," he also predicted. "With climate change, global population shifts, and rapid urbanisation at the forefront, sustainability will not just be a preference but an expectation.

"This generation will be raised by Millennial and older Gen Z parents, many of whom prioritise adaptability, equality, and eco-consciousness in their parenting."

Due to advances in medicine and AI-enabled healthcare, many in this generation are likely to reach centenarian status. A person born in 2025 will be 75 years old in 2100. The 22nd century officially begins on January 1, 2101.
