Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Florida, has been placed on lockdown following reports that an unauthorised vehicle entered the base.
The complex is a major United States Navy installation on Florida's Atlantic coast, serving as both a naval air facility and a deep-water port for Navy ships.
A social media user on X posted footage appearing to capture a voiceover at the base saying: "Lockdown, lockdown due to an active threat."
All gates have reportedly been closed to both inbound and outbound traffic while security personnel investigate the incident.
