According to a new 2026 study, scientists report that eggs may help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s. Studies have shown that eating 1 to 5 eggs a week can significantly reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s and memory- diseases. Nutrients found in eggs (such as choline, omega-3 fatty acids and lutein) are believed to be beneficial for brain health.

Eggs are a common part of our daily diet. They are easily available and require very little effort. Research suggests that eating one or more eggs a week can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s by 47 percent. Another study found that eating eggs at least five times a week reduced the risk by 27 percent.

What does the study say?

The study, published in Eurocalert, followed nearly 40,000 seniors for more than 15 years. It found that those who ate eggs two to four times a week reduced their risk of Alzheimer’s by about 20 percent. Increasing it to five or more times a week reduced the risk slightly more. Recent findings from the 2026 Adventist Health Study-2 (AHS-2) reveal a very promising trend, suggesting that balanced and regular egg consumption may reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive decline in the elderly. However, more research is needed.
