A video of Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is going viral. It is being claimed that the flight was going from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad. In the video, Chahal is seen smoking e-cigarette. Social media users claim that this video was uploaded by the team's fast bowler Arshdeep Singh while making a vlog of the franchise's trip, in which Chahal was seen vaping. At the time of uploading Arshdeep Singh's video, it was initially of 16:56 minutes. Following online protests, Arshdeep reduced the length of the video to 16:01 minutes.
It is seen in the video that Chahal tried to be careful while smoking, but sharp-eyed users trolled that part of the video. Demanded action against Chahal for endangering the lives of passengers on board the IndiGo flight. Now the question is what action can be taken against someone who smokes cigarette or e-cigarette in the plane?
What is the punishment for smoking on a plane?
After many cases of misconduct including smoking came to light for some time, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) became strict regarding this. In case of smoking, as a punishment, DGCA can ban the culprit from air travel for a period of more than 30 days.

According to DGCA rules, smoking is strictly prohibited, be it on the plane or in the toilet. Under the rules laid down by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), it may have to face serious consequences. According to the proposed draft rules, a passenger smoking/vaping will be considered a nuisance passenger.

Airlines can immediately impose a 30-day flying ban on passengers doing such work on board an aircraft without review by any committee. These acts are considered “disruptive”, and although airlines can impose immediate sanctions on offenders, they do not add them to the formal DGCA no-fly list until the misconduct is investigated and confirmed by the committee.
Now Chahal after Riyan Parag controversy
Chahal is not alone in the e-cigarette controversy. Recently, a video of Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag went viral, in which he was sitting in the dressing room and was seen puffing on an e-cigarette. His video went viral on social media and users raised questions. However, an attempt was made to avoid the matter by saying that it was the player's personal choice on that matter.
DGCA changed the rules regarding power bank
Recently, due to the accident related to power bank in Chandigarh flight of Indigo, DGCA has also changed the rules of carrying it in the plane. According to the new guidelines, passengers are allowed to carry power banks only in hand luggage. Keeping power banks in check-in luggage is still prohibited. Passengers have been advised not to keep power banks or extra lithium batteries in the overhead compartment during the flight.
