IPL 2026: Mitchell Marsh's Century Helps LSG End Losing Streak Against RCB

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finally broke their losing streak, clinching their first win in seven matches by taking down the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), at the Ekana International Stadium during Match 50 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday, May 7. 

 

Batting first on a pitch that can be quite challenging, LSG managed to score 209 runs in their allotted 19 overs. Mitchell Marsh was the star of the show, smashing an impressive 111 runs, while captain Rishabh Pant added a quick-fire 32 off just 10 balls.

 

In response, RCB faced an uphill battle after losing both Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell early on. However, skipper Rajat Patidar stepped up, scoring a rapid 61 runs off 31 balls, and Tim David contributed a solid 40 runs from just 17 balls, keeping RCB in contention.

Ultimately, they fell short by nine runs against the revised target, thanks to some outstanding bowling from the seamers, especially Prince Yadav, who took three wickets. 

 

Despite a tough season for LSG, Mitchell Marsh has been a shining light with the bat. Although he struggled earlier in the season, he found his form today, scoring his second century in as many seasons with a blistering 111 off 56 balls, featuring nine fours and nine sixes, and achieving a strike rate of 198.21. 

 

With this nine-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the Lucknow Super Giants ended their seven-match losing streak in IPL 2026 at the Ekana Stadium. Mitchell Marsh was the standout performer with a fantastic 111 off 56 balls, while Rishabh Pant provided valuable support with a quick 32.

 

RCB fought valiantly through Rajat Patidar and Tim David but ultimately came up short. Prince Yadav's impressive bowling, taking three wickets, played a crucial role in securing this important win for LSG.
