In the run-up to the FIFA World Cup 2026, exciting details about the football tournament are emerging. Shakira is set to debut a new football anthem titled Dai Dai next week. Additionally, it is reported that three different opening ceremonies will take place in the US, Canada and Mexico next month. Lisa, Michael Buble and Tyla are just some of the names emerging to perform at the global tournament's opening ceremonies. The FIFA World Cup is set to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. Katy Perry, Lisa to lead FIFA World Cup 2026 performances
According to reports in The Sun and New York Times, Katy Perry and Blackpink’s are some of the big names recruited for the star-studded opening ceremonies across North America. All three host nations will have their own ceremonies to kick off the tournament. The FIFA World Cup is set to begin on June 11 in Mexico City at the Estadio Azteca, where the host nation will face off against South Africa.

A report in The Athletic states that on June 12 in Toronto, Canada’s first group stage match against Bosnia and Herzegovina will have a performance by homegrown singers Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette and Alessia Cara. The US is also beginning their tournament against Paraguay on the same day at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles. Katy Perry will be performing alongside rapper Future and Los Angeles-based DJ Sanjoy and Paraguayan artist Marilina Bogado.
Lisa To Make Hollywood Debut
K-pop idol Lisa has also been linked to the ceremonies. Mexican rock band Mana, who have won several Grammys; pop star Alejandro Fernandez; singer Belinda; along with South African singer Tyla have also been listed as performers for the ceremonies. This won't be the last of the special ceremonies. Along with the closing ceremonies, games in the US are planning to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4. The World Cup final will be held in New York on July 19.
Shakira unveils World Cup anthem Dai Dai
has teamed up with Nigeria's Burna Boy for the new FIFA World Cup song Dai Dai, a reggaetón-tinged Afrobeats track. The Colombian pop star revealed that the music video for Dai Dai had been shot in Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The song will officially be out on May 14 and the music video shows the singer wearing a blue short skirt and yellow top as she walks out on the field with a football.
