About Daadi Ki Shaadi
Daadi Ki Shaadi is a heartwarming family comedy directed by Ashish R Mohan. The film follows Vimala Ahuja (Neetu Kapoor), a widowed matriarch who surprises her family by deciding to remarry a retired army officer (R. Sarathkumar) in the scenic town of Shimla. The news causes a stir with her sons (Jeevan and Nagendra) and daughter Sunaina, played by Riddhima Kapoor Sahni.
Vimala’s decision to remarry shakes up her granddaughter Kanika’s (Sadia Khateeb) engagement to Tony Kalra (Kapil Sharma), prompting a lively family gathering in Shimla to try to prevent the marriage. The film depicts the family's desperate efforts to stop the marriage, creating a situational comedy where traditional roles are reversed and the complexities of family relationships are highlighted. Meanwhile, the cast also features R. Sarathkumar as Colonel Theeran Devarajan, Sadia Khateeb as Kanika, and others.
The main theme of the film is the search for companionship for elderly parents who are victims of neglect. The story highlights the conflict between a self-absorbed child and a mother who craves emotional connection. It challenges the social stigma that exists for older people, especially women, choosing companionship or marriage later in life. It speaks to the need for companionship among the elderly in a modern joint family.
